About Me

My photo
My life's purpose is best described by: Be the change you want to see in the world: Gandhi. Smiling is my "botox"-FORGET THE DRUGS AND SURGERY. I spice up my life, not my diet, which is SIMPLY DELICIOUS on its own. KISS: I Keep it simple sugars-from whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic fruits (veggies, some nuts/seeds too). The 811rv motto is: simplicity at mealtime, variety throughout the year. My motto is: I live in my own little world, but it's ok they all know me there. At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life.

Tips

I've decided to list some useful tips that have helped me.

1)My biggest challenge has been with potatoes because my mom used to feed them to me a lot when I was young. A few weeks ago I was having many slip-ups with potatoes in the evening, just after work-I would stop at a restaurant and order some baked potatoes to eat on the long drive home. My solution has been to leave some of my favourite fruits in the car so that when I finish work I can snack on them while driving home.

This info from Green's natural hygiene blog has helped too. "Potatoes (especially the usual white variety) are considered to be less healthy than table sugar. They raise the insulin level to extremely high levels only to drop right back down shortly thereafter to cause a craving for the same kind of low quality food".

2) Unfortunately, most fruit sold in markets is not ripe. It's almost impossible to stop at a store to eat something right away-that's good quality. I usually buy my bananas every other day so they can ripen at different times. This has been an organisational challenge, but is very doable.

3)Never put tomatoes in the fridge, they get a very bad taste. Leave them at room temperature.

I have heard many people having the problem with not having good fruit at their convenience. I tend to over stock my fruit, or at least I try to, because the worst possible scenario is to find yourself with no ripe fruit, or a 40lb box of ALL under ripe bananas. I hate when that happens. Your before and after pictures are terrific, congratulations on your success! I have been on a tangent of non-health related posts, but I will probably start making some health related posts in the near future. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the plug. Apples and pears are nearly always found in the stores and more often than not they are ready to eat. Tomatoes are low in calories but are also ready to eat. I can't remember I time where there were no grapes in the stores either, organic is better of course but conventional grapes are better than baked potato.

Yes, you're right Green, there's no really good excuse for the baked potatoes because there are always better choices, even skipping a meal would be better.
