About Me

My photo
My life's purpose is best described by: Be the change you want to see in the world: Gandhi. Smiling is my "botox"-FORGET THE DRUGS AND SURGERY. I spice up my life, not my diet, which is SIMPLY DELICIOUS on its own. KISS: I Keep it simple sugars-from whole, fresh, ripe, raw, organic fruits (veggies, some nuts/seeds too). The 811rv motto is: simplicity at mealtime, variety throughout the year. My motto is: I live in my own little world, but it's ok they all know me there. At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life.

Life is uncertain, life is too short...

Yesterday, I got the best smooch of my life and it was from a walrus!  Sorry dear hubby, but you could take lessons from these beautiful babies.  I went to the aquarium with my son yesterday (I have mixed feelings about zoos
and aquariums because
of my vegan values, one part of me loves them, one part of me hates them, especially their history, but I won't get into that here).  During the walrus feeding show,
they asked for
a volunteer to be kissed by one of the walrus' so I volunteered.
 They're just wonderful animals.
Their kiss (on the cheek btw) tickled with those whiskers.  What a priviledge to
be so close to such majestic creatures.  I think everyone should get kissed, at least
once in their life, by a walrus because life is uncertain, life is too short...

Which brings me to the topic of the day, some recent comments specifically on Going Bananas about life being too short and that one should have everything in moderation and how
can one eat ONLY a low fat raw vegan diet?  My response to that is, it is precisely because life is uncertain and life is too short that I eat only the best in moderation.  I mean, would people say everything in moderation about a poisonous snake bite or being hit by a car?  Yes, sure I'll take getting hit by a car if it's in moderation (NOT).  It's not because we can sometimes survive  being hit by a car that we should actively practice getting hit by a car.   It's the same thing with food.  It's not because we can survive food poisoning that
we should actively
practice eating things
that cause us harm.  It's only good things that should be eaten in moderation because life is uncertain, life is too short to do otherwise.

Life is uncertain, life is too short to be sick and tired...

Life is uncertain, life is too short to not have the energy to go on walks with my son and dogs...

Life is uncertain, life is too short to not be able to practice taekwon-do with my son...

Life is uncertain, life is too short to take my health for granted...

Life is uncertain, life is too short to abuse my body by feeding it junk...

Life is uncertain, life is too short so skip the rest, eat the best.

Well put! The only people who say that stuff are those who are toxic and have never experienced one day of health in their life. Addictions are so strong that these addicts will never consider letting their addiction go. Self intoxification is self intoxification no matter the amount. If I had a dollar for every time I hear people say something like that, "a little can't hurt", "everything in moderation", etc. I would have my fruit farm already.

Haha :) Thanks for saying what I was thinking. I thought about saying a lot more than what I did, but I didn't want to put whoever it was, more on the defensive. Love reading it on your blog though. LOL!

And I meant it when I said, I really do not love those things anymore! I realized that they do not love me back. ;)

This is a great post! The "everything in moderation" comments always get to me. I once explained my perception to a relative, "Would you put just a drop of poison into a glass of water and drink it up? Why not? It's just a little drop. There's more water than poison." She understood where I was coming from, but so many people won't ever consider not eating their favorite stuff. They don't understand how I could choose to live my life this way.

You're right! Life is too short to risk being sick, miserable, lethargic, tired, weak, in pain, heavy, etc. I want to enjoy life to the fullest and I've found a way that enables me to fulfill that desire. Eating fresh, ripe, whole fruits and veggies :)

Have a great weekend!

You're welcome Anne, I love your site. No, it wasn't too fishy because the trainers were considerate enough to have the walrus rinse his mouth and then spray the water at the audience, with me being the closest victim! Lots of fun, really.:))
